Chase earned his purple belt in Karate through his KickStart program at school!
I had a fun, eventful Mother’s Day with my kiddos! I picked them up from their dad’s this afternoon to do lunch and a movie. On the way to lunch Chase was like, “Uhhhhh…. Mom??” I looked over and three of his braces’ brackets had come off and the wire was just hanging there (like, a good inch and a half long)! I called the orthodontist’s emergency line but they couldn’t do anything today and the earliest they could get him in was 5:30 tomorrow. Ummmmm…. There was no way he was going to be able to eat… or concentrate on his STAAR test tomorrow… or just LIVE without getting STABBED until then. So we headed to Home Depot for wire cutters, then to the drug store for orthodontic wax. Moms get things DONE, I tell you!
The kids got me very sweet gifts. Chase made me a “binge watching kit” and Chloe decorated a cake and made me a very fitting keychain (considering the events of the day). I love my babies so much!!
For Chase’s Birthday Experience this year we did a Harry Potter Escape Room! It was so much fun. We didn’t beat it, but they said for a team of 2 we got pretty far! We made a great team, and celebrated with lunch at Mod Pizza.
I am so grateful he still enjoys spending some quality time with Mom. I’ll hold onto it as long as I can!
I took the kids to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban In Concert and it was so amazing! The kids are begging to go to more of them. They played the whole movie on a giant screen, with all the orchestrations played live by the orchestra/choir. Such a cool experience!
We rang in 2019 with Grandma and Grandpa this year! We decided if we were going to make our own party, we needed decorations and fun accessories (even for their dog!), so we headed to Party City!
We watched a movie and played Skip-Bo to keep ourselves occupied until midnight:
And then it was time for the big countdown!
Cheers to a fabulous 2019!
My parents came to town a couple days after Christmas, and we went to the “Winter Wonderland” festival at Circuit of the Americas! It was pretty cool…. They had an awesome Chinese lantern display…
There were opportunities to take group photos…
We rode the carousel…
…and at one point the kids decided to get up close and personal with a light display, hanging out on the steps and running around on the lawn:
We ended the night by giving the kids a chance to ride carnival rides!
It was cold, but we had a great time!
So back on December 2nd my washing machine broke. I finally got someone to come look at it yesterday (shout-out to my friend Celeste for letting me do a couple loads at her house last week, and to Dillard’s for the underwear when I ran out)! Turns out it would have cost more to fix it than to buy a new one, so Merry Christmas to me! *sigh* I ordered a new one yesterday and it’ll be here Monday. My parents are coming today, though, and I ran out of clean sheets! I haven’t been to the laundromat since college, and this one was by far the nicest one I’ve ever seen. The kids were amazed at the concept.
CHLOE: Do they make places like this for people whose washers are broken?
ME: Or people that don’t have them at all.
Made me thankful we’re in a position where the laundromat doesn’t have to be our norm.
Merry Christmas! Chloe helped me decorate this year:
On Christmas Eve we made cookies for Santa, but we ran out of sugar and tried to replace it with brown sugar. It didn’t work. They looked fine but did not taste fine! Even Santa agreed.
And then it was Christmas morning! The kids got exactly what they wanted from Santa: Chloe asked for a stuffed animal that looked like Boom Boom, and Chase finally gets to play Fortnite (*sigh*)!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
